About Us
Our Story
For nearly a century, the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club has brought neighbors together through horticulture, education, conservation, and service. Our members continue to carry that tradition forward today.
Nearly a Century
A Legacy Since 1929
Since 1929, our members have shaped New Smyrna Beach’s civic and horticultural life by funding scholarships, beautifying public spaces, and building community one project at a time.
1929
Club Founded
The New Smyrna Beach Garden Club was organized in 1929, beginning nearly a century of horticultural education, civic beautification, and community involvement.
1988
A Permanent Home
The Club moved into its present home in 1988. The building was donated by John DeBerry and dedicated in memory of his wife, Eva Knudson DeBerry, an avid gardener and former Club president.
2006
Gardens Take Root
Robert S. Bolt donated the gazebo in honor of his mother, Dottie Bolt, a longtime Club member. That spring, a dedicated garden bed became a certified Butterfly Sanctuary.
2026
Grounds Renewed
A major landscape project transformed the Club grounds with new brick walkways, a gazebo patio, an expanded native butterfly garden, and new plantings, supported by a matching CRA grant.
