Application for Certified Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Garden

Thank you for your interest in our Butterfly Gardening Program.
A Garden Club Member will contact you to schedule a date and time to certify your garden.

A donation of $25 to the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club will be collected when your garden is certified. In addition, you will receive a certificate and a sign identifying your garden as a Certified Butterfly Garden.

Butterfly Gardening Certification Committee

The Butterfly Gardening Certification Committee certifies gardens as butterfly habitats and provides advice about butterfly gardening as well as plant replacement and maintenance. Their focus includes community education and outreach by participating in the City of Edgewater’s EdgeFest Earth Day activities and SpringFest in New Smyrna Beach. They provide support for community butterfly gardens in those two cities. The committee has also provided youth and adult educational presentations at Upward Trend Academy in New Smyrna Beach, at Babe James Community Center, and for the Venetian Bay Garden Club among others.

The Garden of the Month program recognizes gardens in the New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, and Edgewater areas. We want to honor homeowners who are truly passionate about their landscape and have been personally involved with the creation, design, and maintenance of their gardens. If you or your neighbor has such a garden, you can make a nomination by sending a message including the name, address, and contact information of the candidate to Garden of the Month at: gardenclubnsb@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you and visiting your garden!

In 2016 NSB Garden Club partnered with the City of New Smyrna Beach to create their first community garden. Members continue to support the community Butterfly Gardens within the Community Garden and maintain individual plots growing both vegetables and flowers.
